Re: point 2, I need to figure that out, obviously, lol and I know MS has plans for Slim Pen 2 and Surface Duo 2, Duo 3 line including inking on the lock screen, pop-up features, etc. The Bluetooth feature does nothing (yet) on Duo 2 and there are no haptics, so I'm not even clear why it needs to be charged (via just acting like a stylus). I'm not entirely sure what happens to Slim Pen 2 when it dies and you use it with Duo 2. Having no Type-C charge ability does suck, in general for Pen/Pen 2

Of course, that begs the question of why not offer one with a charger, and one without (my guess: low volume, doesn't make sense). It's clear MS wanted a lower MSRP for Slim 2, and if you're buying a replacement (you lost it) for your Pro 8/Pro X/SLS the charger is throw-away. Most Duo owners aren't buying then pen and if they are they'd want the Pen Cover as it's also a way to attach the pen all the time, as well as added protection Original Slim Pen included the charger: $150

It is, but here is likely some rationalization on Microsoft's part:
